This is the extended version of the #shorts from last week! We go over FIVE new text tips (3 of which were in the shorts, but this goes over it again). What can you expect from this video? 1. How to Curve Text with Text Effects 2. How to Change Curvature with the Text Effects line 3. How to Change the Spacing between letters 4. How to Change the Height between lines 5. How to COPY STYLE from one text box to another. BEHIND THE SCENES OBS Studio was used to do all of the screen captures from this video. This was actually created PRIOR to last week's video, but we wanted an appetizer to wet your appetite first. This one was done a bit differently than other Canva tutorials as I did a voice first and then layered on top the active movements in some of the scenes. I was struggling a bit with my wording so I said what I wanted and then recorded me doing it.
A NEW FEATURE!!!! This very short video slam how to curve text in Canva. It is the precursor for a longer video which talks about the same thing with 5 total tips for Canva Texts. BEHIND THE SCENES This was a little tricky as we used OBS, but in vertical format. The issue was getting it right in dimension, but then seeing everything that needed to be seen. We HOPE this is an easy to understand video with the vertical format, but if you need more information do not worry. There is a video coming out on 1/15/2021 which gives you the regular YouTube formatting. Thumbnail was created in Canva as well using that curve feature (along with other text effects)
Did you know you there are a lot of text tricks that you may not know and some of them may make your life easier when putting together thumbnails, green screen effects as well as transition cards between scenes? We put together 12 of them for you in this video and we hope you find it useful. Canva has pushed through a feature that everyone has wanted for a long time since this video was put together. There wasn't enough time to add it to the video prior to publishing so I hope to be able to create a second Canva video this month to show case that awesome new feature of automatically curving your text!
Canva Created the Curved Text effects in Text Effects AFTER this video was put together, but here is the manual way to create Curved Effects should that button disappear or you aren't able to find it easily. It involves taking a circle and placing individual letters around a curve and then removing the curve. I've been having bouts of hoarseness so if I am able to record my voice this month I will push that video out as soon as possible because it is a very exciting new feature that everyone has been waiting for! In order to create an outline effect, you first need an image without a background. Our video shares a little tip on how to do that free, but this is about the outline portion of the video. Upload your image [if it's not there already] in the Upload section of Canva. Click on your image to put into your project. Duplicate that image. You will want to create an effect on one of the images. That effect is called DuoTone. You will bring both the Shadow & Highlights to the White number FFFFFF to make your outline effect white, but you can use any color you want. You make the outline effect a bit larger than your original image with no effects and line them out. Voila. You have an outline image! The bottom line is it's pretty simple to create the outline. UPCOMING| In November, we will create a video with a couple of tricks to make outlining your image a little easier. We may also talk a little bit more about green screen captions unless someone gives us another idea for November. Behind the Scenes| Like It Or Not utilized OBS Studio for capturing the video from the laptop. We utilized the Maono AU-425 Plus Microphone for recording audio. Finally, we obviously used Canva for creating all of the cards and captions within the video. We kept the style of the Creating Outlines for Images video the same as Canva for YouTube. We thank Eight is Enough or suggesting this video. This episode debuted on Like It Or Not YouTube Channel on October 16, 2020. How did Like It Or Not get into Canva Tutorials?| Mrs. Like It Or Not has been using Canva for creating things for quite some time, but over the last year she has learned how to use Canva to create things for YouTube. A group of Small YouTubers requested for us to create a video showing how to use Canva for YouTube That first video was created in July 2020. She created one more in August 2020 and then one more in September. For October 2020, Like It Or Not created TWO videos and one includes how to use chroma key in Open Shot.
Isn't a bummer when you realize after you upload a video that you missed something KEY to share? That's why we're coming back with Part 2. In this video, we share with you a key tip in creating your Canva green screen captions that we realized after publishing our first video. We also wanted to share with you how we use Open Shot in order to create that green screen effect for our videos. That thing we missed? Use your editing program to your advantage when creating captions in Canva. We use Open Shot. In open shot, it automatically removes anything in BLACK so by creating our backgrounds in black it takes out one less step in the editing process. This is huge when there are a lot of captions for one video. If your editing program uses another color, be sure to create your caption plain background that color in order to help reduce the number of steps needed in your edit process. It's a time saver that's for sure! We only wish we had thought of it earlier. We thought of it AFTER we published the first video, but it has sure saved us time over the last month. What isn't in the video? Our favorite transition to use for our captions. We love to use either Fade In & Out (either slow or fast depending on what it is) OR Animate from the bottom to center back to bottom for other things. Would you like us to create a video on how to animate things in Open Shot? Sounds like the next logical step to us. WHAT TO EXPECT|
